TECHNOLOGICAL MIND OVERLOAD, TIP #1
April 30th, 2010 by LIGER
Put down and step 10 or more feet away from all forms of computer equipment. Breath. Look up at the sky and note the number of clouds. Now turn slowly around in a full circle and observe. Do not twitter or write a status update about doing this. No one cares that you did it and that’s OK. You will survive. We promise. Do this once a day

Asteroids = Water
April 29th, 2010 by LIGERThis week NASA spread the word that they have finally discovered water on asteroid 24 Themis, which they have been studying for 6 years. The theory that water was introduced from something off of the planet was a long-held theory, but now there is some evidence. The asteroid orbits the sun at a distance of 297 million miles, or between the planets of Jupiter and Mars and there is evidence of water ice and carbon-based organic materials.
“For a long time the thinking was that you couldn’t find a cup’s worth of water in the entire asteroid belt,” said Don Yeomans, manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object Program Office, in a statement yesterday. “Today we know you not only could quench your thirst, but you just might be able to fill up every pool on Earth — and then some.”
What does this mean!?
It means that the story of the solar system will have to be updated and that asteroids themselves may be much more valuable than we previously thought.
“This is exciting because it provides us a better understanding about our past — and our possible future,” said Yeomans. “This research indicates that not only could asteroids be possible sources of raw materials, but they could be the fueling stations and watering holes for future interplanetary exploration.”

This one is funny and slightly disturbing, but the concept is great. These jackets and hoodies created by Sander Reijgers, are made out of materials from blow-up sex dolls. He quotes, “I customize existing tracksuit tops with parts of the blow-up dolls – the head, the breasts, the vagina, the anus. These dolls are so ugly and vulgar that turning them into something beautiful has become a challenge for me.”

“Exit Through the Gift Shop”
April 19th, 2010 by LIGER
We went to the movies on Friday to check this movie out. Supposedly about Banksy, but actually about Mr.Brainwash, “Exit Through the Gift Shop” is a movie about street art and the man that started documenting Shepard Fairey, Banksy, and his cousin, Space Invader. Funny, interesting, and worth watching.

MUSIC MONDAYS!!!>>>The Horrors!
April 19th, 2010 by LIGERMost fans would agree that Primary Colours was a left turn from the Horrors’ debut album, Strange House, which was pretty obviously inspired by other horror-rock type bands like the Cramps, Gun Club, and the Seeds and was helmed by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner.
The newest album, Primary Colours (yeah, coloUrs, because the Brits like to add U’s everywhere), was put together by Geoff Barrow (Portishead), Craig Silvey, and video director Chris Cunningam. You can already imagine how different the two sounds are. I will post a video track from the old album after this so you can all compare and critique. Even though I’m a fan of the new stuff, I feel like the original rawness is missing. LIke anything that’s overproduced, the original voice is harder to find and the original thing that got me listening is fading-out. I’m hoping the next album rocks!

Invading the Vintage
April 13th, 2010 by DEVIL FISHThese pretty awesome postcards are made by Franco Brambilla , who is an Italian illustrator devoted to sci-fi. He takes vintage postcards and adds his touch of sci-fi action creating an almost realistic image of aliens and Star Wars characters coexisting on earth.
